Captains Log for Shut up and Hold My Correlian Ale.

Log Entry 1:

“Uhh Well this is Captain Dairamus and I uhh haven’t ever made an entry in this recorder but things are getting a little weird so I figured I should start should I ever need to reflect back on some details or sell a book.    Where do I begin?  Hmm well yesterday the little guy well I mean Goregut and I were looking for some work in a normal cantina here in Hutt Space and I came across a “easy money offer”.  Well easy in we had to pick some stuff off and drop it off, but not easy in the fact that it was in uncharted jumps.  With some talking around Goregut found a jumpy Duros astrogater named Vonnis that seemed really eager to get off the planet and out of site.  Goregut later told me he was looking for new identity papers too and Gore provided those (I hope he doesn’t figure out the little guy isn’t very good at it and is just a piece of paper he shouldn’t hand to anyone that knows what he is looking at.)  Anyway… We get this guy on board and start our jumps to pick up these non-descript crates at some random coordinates.  Not too long after we are off Goregut picks up a bounty blurb and would you believe it?  It was this antsy Duros sitting right in my hold!  Said this guy ran with the Bentos Gang and was wanted for planetary genocide.  Now I know some heartless scoundrels in the galaxy that would blow up a planet (some too well) and this scared womp rat right here was not one of him, but I am not a judge.  What I am is an opportunist and this guys Imperial Bounty was 10k credits and rising!  I could tell Goregut wanted to turn the ship around and get this turned in and maybe make it into the big leagues with a guild membership.  Right now we had more important things to do and that number on his head wasn’t going anywhere but up!  We asked him about it and he had the sob story of just being a pilot and had no idea blah blah normal stuff but I believed him for some reason…doesn’t mean I wont take 10k credits though.”

“Anyway we had a bumpy start and barely made the first jump without smashing into a rock.  It started to make me wonder if this guy was actually a pilot.  Goreguts project droid started moving around and I always think they act weird but Goregut told me it was normal.   First stop was a uncharted non hospitable planet but we were getting a recorded distress signal from some bio structure on it.   I am not a terrible guy and will save some one if the reward there, but I didn’t have time to go start sniffing around an unknown planet with no atmosphere on a recording.  We had things to do and the faster we get them done the faster we can decide what to do with this Vonnis.  The next jump was the hard one and wouldn’t you know this Duros pulled off some navigation like I have never seen. I was happy we had him then.   We came out early in orbit of another planet and found a junk freighter floating in orbit, after some examination we could tell it had been recently damaged in a fight.  We found some life forms onboard through scans but the cockpit was blown open and sealed and we couldn’t raise them.  Out here in this part of the galaxy you don’t turn down a chance for some good scavenging so I put on my suit and went down for a closer look.  Wasn’t down there for long when the door blasted open to the inside of the cabins and out came this ugly battle droid.  I didn’t want to shoot it out in ZeroG  alone so I started high tailing it back to the ship up my tether.  This hunk of junk started shooting at me so I started a floating gun battle until I got back to the airlock.  Thankfully shorty got on a turret and blew that robot out to the stars.

“When I got back in the ship I found out the Duros had been busy scanning and we still had some comms from the datalink I set in the cockpit.  We heard some yells for help and saw from the cams some more blaster fire inside.  I knew that there probably weren’t many droids left and saw only 1 or two life forms alive.  Should be some easy pickings for us to take.  Maybe they have some things of value and some med supplies on that ship.  We were running low and, in my rush, to get out of port I forgot to get some picked up.  We docked up with the ship and moved to board.  We weren’t on that ship for 45 seconds before 2 more of those hunks of junk came shooting at us.  We found the cargo bay and Shorty got working on the locks and me and the Duros slugged it out with the droids.  Turns out Vonnis is a handy with a blaster and finished off both of them.  We got in the cargo bay and and heard some blaster fire and some weird droid noises it was filled with smoke and we couldn’t see shit.  I know when one of your senses gets shuts off you gotta pay extra attention to your others and I heard the DISTINCT noise of a grenade charging.  Well not so smart me went charging at the sound and found another driod with a busted leg trying to self-destruct.  I took a (pretty worthless) shot at the thing and it didn’t do anything to stop him.  I knew we were dead right then. Out of no where I was once again reminded why I am friends with my surprising little Jawa.  He came out of nowhere climbed up the droid, disarmed the grenade and shut him down before I could say “nerfherder”  Anyway about that time a banged up female came out and I told her we were here to give her a ride home all it would cost her was whatever was left of the ship and its contents.  See how nice I can be?  Anyway it turns out the cargo on the ship is actually what we came for.  Several problems solved at once.  I am beginning to think we have the beginnings of something that could be pretty profitable here.. I am just going to have to figure out a way to keep Goregut from shooting Vonnis and turning him in.  He doesn’t realize how hard good astrogaters that can handle a pistol are…. Better find him a different bounty soon.
